Scholarships
Aldevere Scholarships
A fixed award of 20 percent of the programme fee, made by nomination to students whose independent work is outstanding.
How a scholarship is awarded
A scholarship is not applied for. The academic team reads every application, including the work the student submits with it, and nominates a student whose work stands out. A partner counsellor who knows a student well may also put them forward. The academic team confirms every award, and it is stated in the written offer.
The award is the same for every holder: 20 percent of the fee, whichever programme and whichever field. It recognises the work a student has already done. It is not held back for a family that hesitates, and it is not given to everyone who asks.
No number of scholarships is published. Admissions are rolling, and an award is made when the work warrants one.
What the academic team looks for
Evidence of independent thinking
Work the student chose to do without being set it. A reading log kept for six months, a project abandoned and restarted, a question they could not let go of. Prizes and placements are useful but they are not what we are looking for first.
Specificity of interest
A student who can say precisely which part of a field interests them, and why, is easier to mentor well than one who names the whole subject. Narrow beats broad here.
Care in the written work
Writing that shows close reading and a careful argument, in whatever form the student has produced it: an essay, a report, a long answer on the application itself.
Readiness to use the place
Capacity to commit the weekly hours during the programme window. A strong candidate in the middle of exams may be better served by a later start.
Grades are context, not the criterion. A student with modest grades and a year of genuine independent work makes a stronger case here than a student with perfect grades and nothing they chose to do themselves.

The Research Question Prize
An open essay competition for students aged 14 to 18 anywhere in the world. Entrants choose a difficult question in a subject they care about and explain it to a curious 12-year-old in no more than 1,000 words. First prize is $500 in cash plus a scholarship covering half the fee for an Aldevere programme, up to $3,000. Entry is free, every valid entry receives a certificate, and the current round closes on 15 November 2026.
Read the prompt and the rulesFrequently asked questions
How much is a scholarship worth?
Twenty percent of the programme fee. The figure is the same for every recipient, whichever programme and whichever field.
How do I apply for a scholarship?
Scholarships are not applied for, and there is no separate form. The academic team reads every application, and a student whose work stands out is nominated. A partner counsellor who knows the student may also nominate them. Any award is stated in the written offer.
How many scholarships are awarded?
No number is published. Admissions are rolling, and a scholarship is awarded when the work warrants one, not to fill a quota.
Can a scholarship be combined with a prize award?
A student holds one fee award. Where a student qualifies for more than one, the larger applies. The cash prizes of the Research Question Prize are separate and are paid in full.
Does a scholarship affect the programme itself?
No. Scholars receive the same mentor matching, the same contact time and the same supervision as every other student. The award changes the fee and nothing else.
Is anything expected of scholarship holders?
One thing, and it is a request rather than a condition. At the end of the programme we ask holders to write a few honest sentences about what the work was actually like, which we may publish with their first name, year group and country. Holders are free to decline, to ask to be anonymous, or to withdraw it later, and none of that affects the award or the programme. We publish these as written.
Does a scholarship improve university admission chances?
No. Nothing Aldevere offers changes admissions outcomes, and any provider suggesting otherwise should be treated with suspicion. A scholarship reduces the cost of the programme. What the student produces during it is what carries weight, and that depends on their work.
Applying
Every application is read for a scholarship, and there is nothing extra to submit. The fees for each programme are published in full.
