Accessibility Statement
Last updated: September 2026 · Next review: July 2027
Aldevere is committed to making its website usable for as many people as possible, including people who use assistive technologies. We treat accessibility as part of doing this well, not as an afterthought.
1. The standard we aim for
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 at level AA. The site has not been independently audited, and we do not claim that it fully meets that standard. Accessibility is an ongoing effort, and we work to improve the site over time.
2. Steps we have taken
In September 2026 we tested five pages: the homepage, the application page, the programmes overview, the mentors page and one of our subject guides. On each we ran automated checks with axe-core, an open-source accessibility testing engine, at a desktop width and at a 375-pixel phone width, and we went through the page using only a keyboard. Following those tests we:
- Raised the colour contrast of text that fell below the WCAG AA ratio in the site footer, the navigation menus, the homepage, the application page, the programmes and mentors pages, and the panels used within our guides.
- Made the navigation menus open when they are reached with the Tab key, and close with the Escape key. Before this, the pages listed in them could only be reached with a mouse.
- Stopped the collapsed phone menu from taking keyboard focus while it is closed.
- Made keyboard focus clearly visible on the email sign-up form.
- Corrected the heading order on the mentors page and a nested page region on our guides.
We also confirmed that the "Skip to content" link moves focus to the main content, and that these pages do not scroll sideways at phone width. Apart from the limitations below, the automated checks found no remaining failures on these five pages.
3. Known limitations
Some parts of the site are not yet fully accessible:
- We have tested only the five pages above, and we have not yet tested the site with a screen reader.
- Some small gold labels and links, including those on the homepage's introductory card and in the text of some guides, are below the AA contrast ratio.
- Decorative numerals on the programmes page are set in pale gold below the AA contrast ratio. They repeat the order or heading shown in the text beside them.
- Services embedded from third parties, such as the application form and the scheduling tool, are controlled by those providers, and we did not test them.
4. Getting help another way

6. Review
This statement is reviewed at least annually, and updated as we improve the site.
